Today, consumers and citizens are expected to take on many different roles to save the planet: green consumers, prosumers, sharers and peers, renters and leasees, innovators, collaborators and so on. A recent publication in the MISTRA-Rees program has outlined the roles and made a first attempt to create a hierarchy of consumer behavior based on the sustainability potentials. The article also discusses how policies could be used to guide and steer consumers towards more sustainable behavior in accordance with the hierarchy. The article can be found here.

At Europakommentaren, Carl Dalhammar discusses the research and how it relates to the consumption challenge. Link (in Swedish).
